Not run since the late 1980s.
Con-Cor has refurbished
and improved the original tooling for this beautiful N model
of the famous "S-2" 4-8-4 Steam Locomotive. The original tooling
for this model was built for Con-Cor by Kato, and we re-claimed
our tooling from the Kato factory in Japan.
Originally built for the
Great Northern in the 1930's, the S-2's design was copied by
many other railroads.
Scheduled for delivery in
the 4th quarter of 2000, we expect the Great Northern paint
schemes just before Christmas and the other roadnames early
in 2001. We expect the first run of these to quickly sell out
so don't be disappointed, order yours now! Each roadname will
come in 3 different cab numbers.
The model will feature a
powerful 5 pole skewed armature motor, fine handrails and lots
of factory "add-on" details.
We have also included a
pre-wired PC board in the tender to make it very easy to install
a "DCC" unit. In fact, Digi-Trax will make a unit that will
drop in place into this locomotive with very little effort.
