1522: Mountain of the Ozarks -- Among the handful of restored steam locomotives running in the United States, the Frisco's 4-8-2 Mountain number 1522 has captured both the eyes and the ears of railroad enthusiasts with its own special brand of raucous, no-nonsense performance that was typical of the heavy power built during the twenties. This powerful, earth-shaking steamer moves freight or passengers the American way--by brute force! This tape brings you the full-bore action of the famous 1522 recorded during 12 different runs in the Midwest and South over a period from 1988 to 1994. 53 minutes, color, live sound with narration.

Burlington Northern's Funnel -- Burlington Northern's Pend Oreille Subdivision stretches from Spokane WA to Sandpoint ID. It's one of the busiest single track mainlines in the U.S. today, handling up to 100 trains daily, including 90% of BN's container traffic, all of its lumber trains, and the majority of its intermodal trains. This tape shows many high tonnage trains moving through the best elements of Pacific Northwest railroadin' -- mountain grades, deep cuts, and long bridges. It was taped just before the merger with Santa Fe, and shows locomotives like B30-7s, B39-8s, SD45-2s and multiple SD40-2s working hard to move the freight. 80 minutes, color, live stereo sound with narration.
0101-101310..........Retail $19.95 Sale $13.97
Classic Chicago Railroading -- This tape is the second in the Pentrex Fallen Flags Series. It consists of dubs of 8mm color films taken by Richard Wallin in the sixties and seventies. You'll see equipment from 32 different railroads (most of them now gone) in rare scenes filmed during the changing seasons at the best train-watching locations throughout the Chicago area. You'll see a great variety of motive power heading up both freight and passenger trains.
0101-101840..........Retail $19.95 Sale $13.97
Grand Canyon Railway -- The GCR of Arizona offers the unique combination of great scenery, exquisitely maintained vintage steam and diesel locomotives, vintage passenger cars, and high speed running. The tape follows its Williams Flyer excursion train, gives cab rides in its Alco FPA-4 diesel and its 2-8-0 steamer #18, and shows a doubleheaded passenger train highballed by its two steamers. You'll also visit the railway's shop, its museum in a former Harvey House food stop (the original fast food), and the historic El Tovar hotel at the rim of the famous Grand Canyon.
0101-103826..........Retail $19.95 Sale $13.97
Hooters on Blue Ridge -- Viewing this tape is akin to cracking open a Fort Knox of vintage steam film. Henry Peterson made several trips to the N&W's tracks in the 1950s not just to shoot the last great steam show in 16mm color, but also to simultaneously record that show in synchronized sound, much of it done in stereo. Peterson's film featuring the N&W's great large locomotives has been computer-enhanced and coupled with those sounds to create an exciting show for you! Listen for the N&W's famous hooter whistles (you were thinking something else?) in stereo. Color, 50 minutes with (some) stereo actual sound + 30 minutes of still photos accompanied by steam sounds.

Railroading in the Heartland, Vol. 1 -- This is the first tape of a series of tapes containing short sequences of interesting railroad subjects. This tape will show you Frisco 1522 pulling an excursion train between Topeka and Emporia, KS; an Operation Lifesaver trip on the Santa Fe with a 70 mph cab ride; a historic Burlington caboose being taken to a new home in Wichita; BNSF's new paint schemes; a special trip of a Boeing airplane; an update on Santa Fe's Curtis Hill -- and more! 120 minutes, live sound with narration.
0101-107550..........Retail $34.95 Sale $24.47
Santa Fe Vintage Diesels -- Pentrex launches a new series of tapes, their Fallen Flags Series (and what flags have not fallen?) with this tape dubbed from 8mm color films taken by Dick Wallin. The films were made in the sixties and seventies in eastern New Mexico, Kansas, and Illinois. A wide variety of Fairbanks-Morse, Baldwin, Alco, and EMD locomotives are shown in both freight and passenger service. There's even a rare shot of an early articulated railcar! Line drawings and specifications are shown for each featured locomotive. 50 minutes.
0101-107955..........Retail $19.98 Sale $13.99
A Steam Driven Man: Chad O'Connor -- This tape tells the story of a man who's owned and operated his own steam locomotive, steam automobile, steam truck, and steam boat. He built a steam plant for the city of Pasadena, and he's responsible for the construction of the two full size replica steam locomotives in use at the Promontory Point historical site. Apart from the fact that he's earned two Academy Awards, Chad is one of the world's top authorities on steam. Meet him and see some of the vintage footage he's shot. 38 minutes, color, stereo sound with narration.
0101-101815..........Retail $19.95 Sale $13.97
Steam to Squamish -- British Columbia's coastal mountains are an impressive place to see steam trains operate, because you get the beautiful scenery along with all the sounds of the locomotive bouncing off the rock and the loco's smoke lingering in the air. Ride the cab of the Royal Hudson from North Vancouver to Squamish and watch the crew work. Then follow recently rebuilt Consolidation 3716 as it works a tourist train of heavyweights along the rugged coast line to Squamish. 42 minutes, color, live stereo sound with narration.
0101-108106..........Retail $19.95 Sale $13.97
Sunrise/Sunset: A Day at Gibbon Junction -- Gibbon Junction is the meeting place of the Union Pacific's Marysville Subdivision up from Kansas City and its east-west Nebraska Division main line. It is one of the world's busiest railroad junctions. This tape shows all of the trains that passed through the junction during the daylight hours of a certain day. All kinds of freight trains are seen among the 73 trains that pass by. Train symbols, origins and destinations are given for most of the trains. It was a great day for trainwatching, and you can see this condensed version any time you want to. 73 minutes, live sound with narration.
0101-108220..........Retail $19.95 Sale $13.97
Tour of the M-10000 -- The Union Pacific's M-10000 of 1934 was the railroad's first streamliner. The public was fascinated with the train's unified streamlined appearance, its aluminum alloy hull, and its distillate engine power plant. Pentrex and the U.P.'s Historical Society have compiled this incredible program from the black and white silent films taken by the U.P. during its nationwide inaugural tour. They edited and computer-enhanced the film, then added appropriate sound and narration, along with still photos of the interior, the power plant, the passengers on the train and the dignitaries that toured it. 75 minutes, black and white, narration.
0101-108305..........Retail $29.95 Sale $20.97
Tribute to Tennessee Pass -- When word hit that U.P. was going to close the Rio Grande's famous Tennessee Pass in 1997, Pentrex got there to catch the last rail action over this difficult pass through a scenic area of Colorado. They caught a high volume of movements with an outstanding mix of trains. Heavy coal trains and other freights provided resistance against the newest AC-powered diesels up the three percent grade to the top of the 10,000 foot pass. Up to nine of the heavy luggers divided trains. Long trains hit the grades and negotiated the serpentine curves for the last time before closure. If you didn't get there, get the tape. 100 minutes, color, live stereo sound w/narration.
0101-108315..........Retail $29.95 Sale $20.97
Union Pacific's Marysville Subdivision, Vol. 1 -- The Marysville Sub is one of Uncle Pete's busiest routes, connecting its Nebraska main line to Kansas city. This mostly single-tracked line carries up to 60 trains per day across a sparsely populated, hilly expanse. U.P.'s monster diesels power heavy coal trains and fast intermodals over the Sub, setting up the necessity of careful dispatching between trains going opposite directions. Volume 1 takes you between Gibbon Junction, NE and Marysville, KS (the crew change point). 75 minutes, live stereo sound and narration.
0101-108770..........Retail $29.95 Sale $20.97
Union Pacific's Marysville Subdivision, Vol. 2 -- Volume 2 picks up the action at Marysville and follows the track east to Kansas City. From Topeka the Espee's "Cotton Rock" line shares the UP track to KC. The final 67 miles are double-tracked. You'll see the newest GE and EMD alternating current units proving their stuff. You'll also see run-throughs from other roads, and coal trains operating with distributed power. The action is unsurpassed and the scenery ain't bad, either! 76 minutes, live stereo sound and narration.
