Yes, the model comes with the fully decorated engineer and firemen figures !
NOTE: Following pictures do not have as yet the AeroTrain loco mounted on the
side of the locomotive. All roadnames had it, EXCEPT the Rock Island, as GM removed them
before delivering the train to the Rock Island. Later on the Rock Island also added more
steps and handrails to the Locomotive. Our model is "as delivered" to the Rock Island.
Also it is correct that some railroads decaled the side of the Individual Coaches
( PRR, Rock Island) and others did not since the AeroTrain was only on loan to the various
railroads for short periods of time.
Con-Cor Previously announced "add-on" DCC Sound Decoder has been delayed, but ANY brand
Sound Decoder can be used on this model such as SoundTraxx, DigiTrax, LokSound etc.
Special Coach car will be available that has more room for Speaker for Sound Decoder.
NOTE: Also with a decoder you can make the center twin headlights flash when the horn is
blown as the AeroTrain approaches a grade crossing !! (Feature only available on HO models in DCC mode.)

the "HO" and "N" AeroTrain Collectors Sets
The AeroTrain name is recognized by most model railroaders, and yet finding
good information about it has been a challenge.
Brief History:
There were two AeroTrain consists (train #1000 and train #1001). Built in
1955 and debuted at the 1955 "GM Powerama" which was held at Soldier's Field
just south of Downtown Chicago. At the same show GM showed a Solar Powered Automobile
(Geeze this was 51 years ago!) -and still no solar automobiles.
The two AeroTrain demonstrator sets logged over 600,000 miles traveling coast
to coast and were open to the public for viewing in many major cities.
In addition to the roads listed below that we can verrify used the AeroTrain
is regular service, we know it also ran on many other railroads such as the Southern Pacific, New Haven, Canadian National, and spent a couple of months in Mexico.
Anyone who can help with photos of the AeroTrain running on other railroads would be appreciated.
Just send us an Email on what you have. (Click on Email link at the bottom of this page.)
Today you can find parts of one Train Set at the Museum in St. Louis, and
parts of the other Train Set at the Museum in Green Bay. The one in St.
Louis was cosmeticly restored about 5 years ago using a $10,000 donation
from the NMRA.
The Consist of each AeroTrain
Each AeroTrain consisted of the locomotive unit, 8 40 seat coaches and the tail end observation car. A total of 10 units per train set. The Locomotive
used the drive train off the SW-1200 switcher (regeared so it could hit a top speed of 102 mph), and the car bodies were built using parts from an inter-city bus body that GM was building at the
time.
The GM Designer responsible for the AeroTrain project Charles "Chuck" Jordan
is retired and living in Southern California. "Chuck" was very helpful in confirming design
specifications and details of the AeroTrain. "Chuck" was the primary designer of the 1958 Corvette, and was named Cadillac’s Chief of Design in 1959. We owe a huge "THANK YOU" to Chuck for his help on this project.
Updates on the Progress of the AeroTrain project will be available via Email.
If you wish to receive frequent updates on the progress of our "AeroTrain" project, please Register your Email
address by clicking on the "Registration Tab" at the top of this page and filling out the form. This puts you on the list to get
our Email newsletters and information not only on the "AeroTrain" progress, but also special sales and information
on other new projects we are working on ahead of everyone else.
Note: If you use Earthlink, MSN, or subscribe to one of the other Email services that "block" incoming Emails
unless you have listed "concor@con-cor.com" as an acceptable incoming address you will not receive our Emails as
they will be blocked. You would be surprised how many Email orders we get from people that have blocked return
accounts, and when we send them an acknowledgement of their order it just "bounces" back to us as undeliverable.
Details on Con-Cor's "HO" Model:
Con-Cor will offer the AeroTrain in a basic set of 4 units, the Locomotive
2 coaches and the Observation car.
And "add-on" sets of 3 more coaches will be offered. So a modeler can buy
the basic 4 unit set, plus one "add-on" coach set to make a 7 car "AeroTrain", or buy 2 of the "add-on" coach sets to reproduce the full 10 car prototype train.
NOTE: We are sold out on some roadnames from lst delivery of the HO AeroTrain, but you can still
place an a No Obligation Pre-order for the 2nd delivery due summer of 2008.

Features of the "HO" Model.
We are still working on the design specifications and probably will not have the final details until early Fall
of 2007. But the design similar to our "HO" and "N" Pioneer Zephyr models introduced recently but with some added
features.
Highly detailed bodies, with separate add on parts where appropriate.
Diaphrams between cars
Full interior details
LED interior car lightling with circuit boards in each car
Electrical pick-up and metal wheelsets on all cars
Dual flywheel drive
5 pole scewed armature motor
Functional reversing front headlights, and tail of observation back up lights.
Flashing front headlights (in DCC mode) as Prototype used for Grade Crossings
Will come in DC mode with a circuit board with built in 8 Pin NMRA for adding any "small" function decoder
Optional Sound Decoder available later from Con-Cor, but any brand Sound Decoder can be
used and plugged into 8 pin NMRA Socket mounted inside locomotive.
** Note this is a design change, we orginally planned it would come with a dual-mode
board, but the electronics guys told us, that if we "hard wired" a dual mode board
that then they could not also put a NMRA 8 pin socket set on the board as there was
no way to have either a Function or Sound decoder plugged into the NMRA Socket set
"override" the hard wired basic function decoder hard wired into the circuitry.
Also, after assembly of the prototype samples, we also discovered the size of
Sound decoders, plus speaker would not fit comfortably inside the locomotive
shell without a risk of the heat thrown off the Decoder melting the inside roof
of the Locomotive car body, so we made the decision to build a version
of the Coach car to accept a sound decoder and speaker. This extra coach car will
come with an "extender" wire harness to connect from the 8 Pin NMRA socket on the
Locomotive PCB board and reach into the extra coach car will should be run directly
behind the locomotive.
A small Standard function decoder (no sound), will fit inside the Locomotive
body shell and should not generate enough heat to damage the body, just make
sure the decoder is NOT TOUCHING the inside of the body shell when you replace
the body shell.

Special Edition Collector's Box.
Basic Set include Reprints of 1955 Article from Popular Mechanics Magazine, and 1976 article in
Rail Classics Magazine.
The AeroTrain will be as faithfully reproduced as we can make it. It is designed so you can just buy
the basic 4 car set and it will run just fine as a 4 car train with all the features. But it will be easy to add the
extra "Add-on" car set(s) to make a longer train if you so choose either immediately, or at a later date.
Size of production run will be determined by number of advance orders we receive. Do not be disappointed reserve
yours as early as possible.
The links below are to 3-D Computer Generated Preliminary Design Drawings for the "HO" version. These are not final and for reference for our designers only, but we thought it would be fun to share them with you. These are fairly
large files and will take time to download, so we listed them individually.
And I will REPEAT, these are not "final". Small details and add-on pc are NOT shown in these early design
views and much work remains by the engineering staff.
